Course Overview: Level 5 Children and Young People's Management

The NCFE CACHE Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services (England), Children and Young People's Management pathway, is the leadership qualification for people who manage, or are preparing to manage, a service for children and young people.

Standard 17.2 of the Fostering Services National Minimum Standards (Department for Education, 2011) sets the qualifications expected of a fostering service's registered manager. Its footnote names this diploma for qualifications started after January 2011. The same footnote says managers who already hold the Level 4 Leadership and Management for Care Services or Health and Social Care qualification do not need to take the Level 5 diploma, so please ask us if you are unsure which applies to you.

The course is organised into six modules and 18 units (12 mandatory and 6 optional, 91 credits), covering 78 learning outcomes. Examples throughout come from fostering and independent fostering agency practice, and every task is built around your own role and setting.
