The purpose of this policy is to establish Orvanta Open College’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of teaching, learning, assessment, and administrative practice. This policy ensures that quality assurance processes are embedded across all areas of operation in line with awarding body and regulatory requirements.
Scope
This policy applies to:
All programmes and qualifications delivered by the College through distance and blended learning.
All learners, tutors, assessors, internal quality assurers (IQAs), and administrative staff.
All operational and support functions that impact the learner experience.

Provide robust systems for assessment, internal quality assurance, and learner support.
Monitor performance against key indicators such as learner satisfaction, retention, achievement, and progression.

Responsibilities
Centre Director – overall responsibility for quality assurance and compliance.
Quality Assurance Team – responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on quality processes.
Assessors and Tutors – responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and assessment.
IQAs – responsible for monitoring assessor decisions and maintaining assessment standards.
Learners – responsible for engaging fully with learning and assessment activities.
Quality Assurance Procedures
Internal Quality Assurance (IQA): Regular sampling of assessments, assessor feedback, and records to ensure consistency and validity.
Standardisation: Meetings and activities to ensure assessment criteria are applied consistently across all staff.
Learner Feedback: Regular collection and analysis of learner feedback through surveys, tutorials, and support sessions.
Staff Development: Ongoing training, supervision, and CPD to maintain staff competence.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Key performance indicators will be tracked and reviewed against benchmarks.
Corrective Actions: Any issues identified will be addressed promptly with corrective action plans.
Review and Continuous Improvement
The Quality Assurance Team will produce annual reports on College performance and quality outcomes.
Data will be shared with awarding bodies as required.
This policy will be reviewed annually, or earlier if changes in awarding body requirements or regulations occur.
